Nuclear medicine (Scintigraphy)

Nuclear medicine imaging uses small amounts of radioactive material, a special camera and a computer to create images of the inside of your body. It provides unique information that often cannot be obtained using other imaging procedures to help diagnose many types of cancers, heart disease, gastrointestinal, endocrine, neurological disorders and other health conditions.

Because nuclear medicine procedures are able to pinpoint molecular activity within the body, they may detect disease in its earliest stages when it is most easily treated.

Our department of nuclear medicine within the International Diagnostic Center Frankfurt offers its patients the most common diagnostic procedures, such as myocardiac scintigraphy (perfusion scan to evaluate the presence and extent of coronary artery disease or myocardial infarction), pulmonary scintigraphy (ventilation/perfusion scan to diagnose pulmonary embolism) and thyroid scan and uptake to provide information about your thyroid’s size, shape, position and function that is often unattainable using other imaging procedures.
